According to data provided by Afterpay and Square, Australians spent big over the sale weekend, making more than 14 million transactions from Black Friday to Cyber Monday, up 13 per cent year on year!
I hate to point a finger, but considering the amount of parcels that made their way into our office this week, my wife certainly did her part to contribute to the massive $45 million that Brisbanites spent last weekend. In New Farm alone, locals amassed almost $4m in sales, in-store and online.
While it’s been a great weekend for retailers, this spending frenzy will unfortunately push inflation up further than the 3.8 per cent recorded in November, making an interest rate cut next week an unlikely Christmas miracle.
It is peak season for retailers, warehouse teams and delivery partners, and at a time when staff are spread thin and under the pump, our regular Australia Post driver went above and beyond to prove that even under pressure, being kind costs absolutely nothing!

He ran into Lou outside the open home at 11/135 Macquarie Street and by the time he pulled up to our office, realised that she was not kidding when she told him that half his van was full of her parcels. At the end of his run, he doubled back to find her outside 68/36 Vernon Terrace to personally drop off her parcels. If that is not extraordinary service at the busiest time of year, I don’t know what is!
I will admit that several of those parcels were Christmas gifts for our nieces and nephew that she organised on our behalf, because braving the shopping malls on the weekend sounds like my idea of a nightmare. If it’s also the last place on earth you want to be on a day off, we have the perfect excuse to skip the crowded carparks and escalators and do some shopping of a different kind.
You can choose between a great lineup of open homes on Saturday or the Sunday morning auction at 11/135 Macquarie Street. Don’t say we didn’t provide you with the perfect excuse to get out of gift shopping this weekend… We’ll be holding an open home from 8.30am so you can take one more good look at this rare riverfront apartment before the bidding begins at 9am.

One property that will no longer be available to view is 72/110 Macquarie Street. Together with Tom Lyne and his team at Ray White New Farm, we are pleased to announce that this exquisite top floor Teneriffe Village apartment has sold, achieving a fantastic result for the building. For more information about this result, please reach out at any time.

After a long period of speculation, Kokoda Property announced that Versatile Construction has been appointed as the builder for the $1.5 billion Teneriffe Banks precinct.
Promising a “new benchmark for luxury living, curated experiences and vibrant riverfront activation”, 17,612 SQM of direct riverfront land will begin to transform into a “destination that residents and visitors will enjoy for generations”.
212 luxury residences will be spread across four architecturally distinct buildings, including Brisbane’s first Kimpton Hotel, alongside a variety of retail, hospitality and wellness destinations as well as parkland, gardens and public spaces.
Following a staggering $285M in first day sales, demand for this luxury product has remained high. Construction is planned to begin this month, with the first units delivered in 2028. I have no doubt the positive impact this development will have on Teneriffe will be tremendous, and I am looking forward to seeing the construction progress!
If three years feels like an eternity away and you’re on the hunt for an apartment you could move into as soon as the new year, you know where to find us.
