My favourite thing about the elections? Watching Aussies abroad score their democracy sausage after casting their vote. It’s such a simple gesture, but such a significant reminder of just how unseriously our nation takes serious business. Love it or hate it, but you can’t deny Aussies have an inherent and endearing ability to put a lighthearted spin on just about anything.
With the federal elections and the string of long weekends in the rear view mirror, we can now look forward – hopefully – to the anticipated rate drop at the next RBA announcement mid-month, but first, we have a very important item on the agenda.
Most brands have started to acknowledge how sensitive Mother’s Day can be for many, offering options to opt out of updates well ahead of time. If you struggle with this celebration, please consider this your gentle heads up.

LEANNE (BEN’S MUM) | 306/50 Macquarie Street, Teneriffe
After spending the past few years living on acreage and toiling in the garden, Leanne wants nothing more than a lock-up and leave property to enjoy all Brisbane has to offer.
These days, the only kids she has to chase have four legs and bark, and they’ll enjoy daily walks along the river even more than she will! This top floor Saratoga Woolstore, drenched in natural light, ticks all her boxes and better yet – it’s just a few steps from our office!

STEPH (JOSH’S MUM) | 217/50 Macquarie Street, Teneriffe
Steph is an interior designer and you bet if she gets her hands on 217/50 Macquarie Street, she’ll let her imagination run wild.
An east-facing property, with an oversized, single level floor plan and a unique position in the building, this Saratoga Woolstore apartment is the perfect blank canvas to put her personal touch on.
MYRIAM (LOU’S MUM) | 24 Terrace Street, New Farm
No one loves a heritage home more than Myriam. She fell in love with colonial-style homes while living in Ghana and to this day, elaborate ironwork, ornate breezeways and VJ panels make her heart beat a little faster.
A worker’s cottage with a low-maintenance garden to enjoy her morning coffee in the sunshine is all she needs. Within walking distance to the riverwalk, James Street and the CBD you’d almost think 24 Terrace Street was made for her!

ANITA (GEORGIE’S MUM) | 409/88 Macquarie Street, Teneriffe
There is only one person who loves to entertain more than I do and it’s my mum, Anita. With an immaculate kitchen that opens onto the living and dining area with its river views, she’ll be able to host guests while showing off her immaculate cooking skills (which I’ve proudly inherited).
Naturally, she needs a bar to store her favourite drops so she can wine and dine her guests – 409/88 Macquarie Street has just that, as well as a beautiful bathtub to enjoy a well-deserved soak after a busy day!

CASSANDRA (JOHN’S MUM) | 301/88 Macquarie Street, Teneriffe
It doesn’t take an expert to appreciate the unique features of 301/88 Macquarie Street, but working in this field herself, Cassandra understands the incomparable value and appeal of this beautiful apartment.
On the front corner of the Dakota Woolstore, with seven sash windows to let the eastern sun filter in through the louvres, there’s something magical about this apartment, perfect for entertaining and relaxing!
Our mums are likely to receive just about anything but the keys to a property as a token of our appreciation this weekend, but nevertheless we’d like to take a moment to acknowledge the immense impact they have on us, their love, care and enduring support (you bet they’re avid subscribers to the Percival Press).
To all the incredible mums, carers and mother figures, thank you for wearing so many hats with so much grace. Your patience, love, and uncanny ability to find things and work out solutions do not go unnoticed. We hope your Mother’s Day is filled with joy, a moment of peace and if you’re at the stage of motherhood my sisters are in – a coffee enjoyed hot!
Talk soon,
Ben
