A MOMENT FOR MERTHYR

Could New Farm’s busy intersection become Brisbane’s hottest hospo spot?!

It’s no secret that Lou and Georgie keep very close tabs on what is happening in Brisbane at any given moment. Between you and I, many of “my” recommendations are in fact inspired by their research, i.e. the places they’ve asked to go for our monthly lunch meetings.

While Josh and John are quite happy to return to Ribs & Burgers or Betty’s month after month, in the space of a fortnight, I’ve been dragged to Evra (highly recommend, though I got overwhelmed and panic ordered a particularly weird assortment of food), then Biang Biang Fresh Noodle (a tiny haunt off Brunswick Street, where paper bibs are a must when wearing a white shirt) and I’ve been told to pencil in Merthyr Road for the foreseeable future.

I have no doubt many James Street locals will mourn the closing of Agnes Bakery, but if the lines out the door on their opening weekend are anything to go by, the future looks bright for Idle. Nestled inside a brand new development which breathes fresh life into the busy intersection, I’m looking forward to trying their new all-day dining menu!

The girls may have been joking about moving our EOFY dinner to Chargrill Charlie’s (their grand opening happens to coincide with our celebrations), but I have no doubt that this beloved Sydney chicken institution too will become a firm part of our lunch rotation.

7/265 Harcourt Street, Teneriffe

The crossing of Merthyr Road and Brunswick Street may have had a mad glow-up, but the intersection I want to bring your focus to lies a little further away.

Perched atop the hill where Chester and Harcourt Street meet, a former fire station was given a new lease on life as a tightly-held complex of heritage residences. One of only eight apartments, Unit 7 is a rare opportunity to secure a charming apartment with spectacular views in one of Brisbane’s – pardon the pun – hottest spots.

8/75 Harcourt Street, Teneriffe

Further along the same street, just a few metres from our team’s (by team, I mean Georgie and Lou) favourite florist, Avalon Florals, don’t skip your chance to secure a New Farm brick complex apartment in an unbeatable location. 8/75 Harcourt Street offers sprawling area views and a generous lockup garage in a building with low body corporate fees.

10/18 Helen Street, Teneriffe

Heading back in the opposite direction, run, don’t walk towards 10/18 Helen Street. Best offers close this Friday, 4 July and it’d be a shame to miss out on this low-maintenance, modern apartment on the border between Teneriffe and Newstead. If you’d like to take another look before Friday evening, please give me a call and we’ll find a time to take you through!

628/8 Skyring Terrace, Teneriffe

Speaking of acting before an opportunity is gone, I’m thrilled to share that 628/8 Skyring Terrace sold off-market. The tenants knew their rental property was something special, and when we informed them that their landlords were ready to sell, they secured this W4 Woolstore property with incomparable views for $1,435,000. Not having to endure a move has never looked better!

If you’re devastated to have to say goodbye to the wining and dining of June (sadly, the end of the financial year also marks the end of Dine BNE City) you might find solace in what awaits next month*.

It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of Merlot – both the colour and the wine, in case that required clarification – despite being colour blind and not a tipple connoisseur by any means. In early July, we’ll be launching an eponymous property on the top floor of the Winchcombe Carson Woolstore, and I have no doubt that both you and I will fall head over heels in love with tekDB’s latest colour-drenched creation. I won’t give away too much just yet, but if you’d like further information about this three-bedroom masterpiece, please reach out at any time.

On that note, I’ll leave you to enjoy the final days of June,

Talk soon,

Ben

*I am not referring to the James St Food & Wine Trail in this instance, though this year’s celebration on Sunday, 27 July promises to be bigger and better than ever.
