Don’t get me wrong, I love a beach day as much as the next guy, but when there are no public holidays left to enjoy it, a 35-degree day is slightly less exciting. Especially if you’re not near a body of water – before you come for me, the bull shark-infested Brisbane River does not count. With Easter still a long way away this year, every reason to celebrate a ’holiday’ is a good one – in particular, one that gives us an excuse to indulge in (a few) margaritas!
From next Thursday, February 20th, until March 2nd, Howard Smith Wharves will be THE spot to enjoy the world’s favourite Mexican – and Brisbane’s unofficial – cocktail. I don’t know about you, but quenching your thirst with a spicy, smoky, or sweet version of this beverage is a great way to count down the days until autumn. Like the team at HSW said: “Grab your amigos, find your spot in the sun and send off summer the right way… With a margarita in hand!”
If I may suggest, before you sit back in their beanbags and watch the sun disappear behind the CBD skyline and Story Bridge, grab those same amigos (or come solo) and take a look at two fantastic opportunities in Teneriffe.

Perfectly positioned between Teneriffe Hill and the riverwalk, 50/68 Beeston Street is a renovated apartment with a large balcony and exceptional privacy – a great spot to host and sling back a few margs after you move in, if you ask me.

Further along Vernon Terrace in the direction of Newstead, Unit 47 in the Mactaggarts Woolstore is a fantastic ground floor apartment, renovated and ready to move into and enjoy! To keep in theme, you’ll only be a short walk away from Rita’s and La Patrona, arguably two of Brisbane’s best spots to grab a margy and a Mexican feed any day!

Around the corner, on Commercial Road, Unit 504 in the ‘Fabric’ building offers elegant interiors and breathtaking views of the CBD. A prime spot to sling back many future margarita’s if you ask me.
From there, retrace your steps toward Teneriffe, catch the CityCat at the terminal just around the corner and zip down the river toward Howard Smith Wharves for a boozy fiesta on the lawn. You can thank me later for the inspiration.
If tequila isn’t your thing – I’ve got you covered: Sticky Beak Wine Bar has landed in Woolloongabba. In a prominent position on the cute side street off Logan Road next to the stadium, a spot I know very well, having worked at Planet Cycles throughout uni, you can now enjoy self-serve wines by the sip!
We can all agree that Kangaroo Point desperately needs another casual, all-day dining spot: Mulga Bill’s is the answer to your prayers. On the CBD side of the Kangaroo Point Bridge, this new venue by the Tassis Group is the perfect opportunity to get your steps up and reward yourself with woodfired pizzas, paellas and more!
There’s plenty to keep you busy, but if you haven’t any plans this weekend, why not join us for our open homes on Saturday?
Talk soon,
Josh
