THOUGHTS IN A BOTTLE

Who knew a cupboard full of dusty wine bottles could hold so many memories?!

Toward the back end of 2025, the shell left behind after City Winery’s chapter came to a close will return to the James Street scene as ‘Aunty’. Brisbane restaurateur Michael Tassis does not miss (the second dinner I had in the space of a few weeks at Longwang confirmed this) and I’m excited to discover this modern Asian newcomer on Wandoo Street.

Why begin this week’s Percival Press by waffling on about a new venue in Brisbane’s glitziest dining hub you wonder? This morning, I happened to open the spare cupboard filled with leftover City Winery bottles we no longer gift and I couldn’t help but take a trip down memory lane.

There was a time, many years ago, when I’d pull up to City Winery’s Fortitude Valley outlet, load up on cartons of wine and return to my small pod, scrambling to find space to store them, excited to gift them to my clients at settlement. If you’ve received a ‘BPP’ branded jute tote bag (perfect for a Saturday morning shop at the Jan Powers farmer’s markets), filled with (branded, of course) bits and pieces and bottle from City Winery, you are a certified OG client. I’m so glad you were a part of our journey.

Why the nostalgia? Next week, Percival Property Group turns one and apparently, bottles of dusty booze can hit you in the feels at 10am on a Friday morning. Our business may grow and evolve, but one thing will always remain the same: our team is always hard at work listing and selling, so there’s plenty to report back on. Let’s begin with the opportunities that await.

203/50 Macquarie Street, Teneriffe

Units like 203/50 Macquarie Street do not come to market often. Spanning a whole 205 SQM across a single level, this apartment is tucked away at the rear of the building, with a string of windows facing the neighbouring Ansonia Woolstore. If that’s not enough to lure you to the very first open home on Saturday at 10.45 AM, the external, sheltered balcony might! See you there!

236/64 Macquarie Street, Teneriffe

Speaking of the Ansonia Woolstore, if you live in the building, our team may have already rang you to share the great news: Unit 236 sold for $1,170,000 moments after I hit send on last week’s email. Before the campaign even went live, we had an overwhelming amount of interest and we’re proud to have achieved a brilliant result for a very unique property.

You may have noticed that we don’t often share the ‘sold sign’ photos with our clients, and as a matter of fact, we sadly don’t have a smattering of signboards peppered across Teneriffe (we don’t make the rules), so when an opportunity arises, we run with it! Earlier this week, in between rain showers, we celebrated the sale of 7/265 Harcourt Street with this converted firehouse unit’s new owners, so naturally, it called for a photo.

We’re thrilled for their new chapter that is just beginning and awfully sad that our weekly delivery of Jocelyn’s Provisions treats from our vendor comes to an end. After being lucky enough to taste a sample, we’ll be hunting down the JP Mallow Wheels at the James St Food and Wine Trail this Sunday! Hopefully, we’ll see you there, in between scoffing down some of Brisbane’s best eats.

709 Webster Road, Chermside

If you’ve got your Sunday sorted but you’re wondering where to head to dodge the gloomy weather on Saturday, our open homes beckon.

While they’re arguably chalk and cheese, the auctions for 8/75 Harcourt Street and 709 Webster Road are coming up quick and fast, so make sure these fantastic opportunities are on your inspection list, alongside a number of pre-market opportunities.

Ben
